The Day
One village, one day, everything on foot. Here's how Thursday, September 9th, 2027 goes:
- 3:45 PM
Shuttle from Saint-Jean-de-Luz
We're picking you up. Be out front of Le Komptoir des Amis (7 Boulevard du Commandant Passicot) at 3:45 sharp — the shuttle leaves for Ascain from there.
- 4:00 PM
Arrive at the Marché d'Ascain
Find a seat. Say hello.
- 4:30 PM
The ceremony
On the market square. In French and English, because that's the only way this works. Officiated by our friend Vikram, who is American and is going to figure it out.
- Afterwards
The walk to the town hall
Everyone walks together — two minutes, the whole party — for the civil ceremony at the Mairie d'Ascain.
- 5:45 PM
Bus to Achafla Baita
Straight from the Mairie, everyone boards the bus for the short ride up to Achafla Baita.
- 6:00 PM
Méchoui at Achafla Baita
Méchoui means a whole lamb, roasted, shared family-style. Drinks, dancing, and our friend Noj on the decks.
- 1:00 AM
Last dance
We close the night out, and the village goes back to sleep.
Kids are welcome. This is a family day. Driving yourself instead of taking the shuttle? Plan to be in Ascain by 4:00.
