Frequently Asked Questions
What's the weather like in September?
Good. Low-to-mid 70s °F in the day, cooler once the sun's down. Pack accordingly.
What should I wear?
Cocktail attire. It might be warm — men, a linen suit will save you.
Do I need to speak French?
No. The ceremony is in both languages. The signage will be bilingual. This site is too. A cheerful bonjour gets you most of the way, and the Basque words on the Ascain page get you the rest.
Are kids welcome?
Yes. About ten of them are already coming, so you won't be the only one.
What is a méchoui?
A whole lamb, roasted, shared family-style. There's no individual meal choice — that's exactly why the RSVP asks about allergies and dietary needs. Everyone eats well.
Where are you registered?
Nowhere. You're crossing an ocean to be with us — that's the gift. Bring yourself and a change of clothes, nothing else. If someone genuinely can't help themselves, there'll be an optional honeymoon fund closer to the day. Optional means optional.
Money?
Euros. Cards work almost everywhere, tap-to-pay included.
How do I RSVP?
Right here, on this site. One reply per household, and a required question about allergies and diets. Deadline: January 15th, 2027.
Can we change our answer after we've sent it?
Yes, any time before the deadline. Open your RSVP link again — on the same phone or computer you used the first time, you'll see your reply waiting with a button to change it. On a different device you'll just get a fresh form. Either way, send a new reply and it replaces the old one.
